Saint Augustine & The Confessions
Humility and honesty are the name of the game for Saint Augustine. Even after his conversion, as a bishop, he continued to dig deeper into his life, in order to root out sin. Perhaps no man in history was so transparent with sharing about his struggle against the evils of this world. Do you have a deep struggle that you would be willing to share about, perhaps as a story on this platform?
Today’s Story
The gentleman sharing about the life of Saint Augustine in today’s story is studying in Chicago to become a member of the Augustinian order. It is the humility of the heart that brings about radical conversion to Christ says Brother Carlos. Saint Augustine’s book, Confessions, is an incredible testament of history and literature that displays very clearly how God can work through the muck of anyone’s heart. The struggles, temptations, addictions, and sorrows of the 21st century are not a new challenge for people. The struggles of the heart and flesh in 2012 were just as prevalent in Saint Augustine’s time, just listen to hear about them.

The Confessions of St. Augustine – a must read for any serious Catholic. One of my favourite books and one which had a huge influence on my own journey in the faith.
