Catholic Mystics Defeat Darkness, part I
Did the troubles of childhood catch up to you growing up? Whether we were looking for it or not, trouble between peers often arises in the actions of young people. But the question must be asked, must the troubles come, or can they be avoided through the intercession of Catholic mystics?
Today’s Story
Today’s Catholic story was filmed in Spain, edited in the USA, and is from the sincere heart of a Philippines native. His name is David, and his story is unique. Why is his story unique, for two reasons. The first, he first heard of OneBillionStories.com through EWTN. Yes, it is a global network, and David was watching when Seth DeMoor was on air 1 year ago. The second, and more important reason, David is perhaps the most courageous story teller to ever air on this global Catholic mission, the home of the ‘one billion Catholic stories.’ Why the most courageous? David is not afraid to bare his soul to the world, even if it means talking about the bullying he received growing up. All of our one billion member family could learn a great lesson from David; share your story with the world, no matter how much darkness enters your life, because Christ is our hope! Darkness shall not overcome!
You will learn very quickly from David that he is well-versed in the lives of the Saints, especially the lives of St John of the Cross and St Teresa of Avila. In fact, it is the founders of mysticism that truly got him through the toughest years of his life. As St Rose of Lima said, “If we sought holiness, we would come to seek suffering.” The words of truth pierce the soul, and David is a living testament to it.
