Discernment in Peru with Annie and Al: Vlog # 40
Discernement is never easy because when one really takes it seriously, it demands a lot of prayer and understanding of what the Lord is really calling you to do. We just spent the last month working full time at the schools San Pedro and Villa Caritas in Lima, Peru, two of the schools of the Sodalitium of Christian Life. They invited us to spend a month with them going to the schools to see if we are called to stay for at least 2 years and work as history and music teachers there. The days were long, and we were quite tired, but we decided that the Lord is calling us to move to Lima and teach there and be part of the great community of Catholic families there. We left Lima on Saturday taking 2 buses for more than 24 hours until we arrived in Juliaca, Peru, near Lake Titicaca. We are now up at around 13,000 feet above sea level. From Juliaca a Sodalith from the community of Ayaviri, Peru picked us up and we arrived safely late that night in Ayaviri. It is a small town, and we are staying with an American couple that is retired and living here and helping in this community. We will stay a bit longer than expected because next week we will work as translators for a group of medical missionaries that are coming here from Colorado. More coming soon from the Andes Mountains of Peru. God bless and please pray for us!
