DENVER, CO, USA — Reflecting upon past generations of Catholics, who courageously crossed the Atlantic by ship, and laid the groundwork for the seeds of faith in America, is important to remember in 2013. Their fortitude sometimes goes unnoticed in familial conversations within Catholic circles, but not for Paula Suhr. Hailing from Irish, Italian, and German roots, her family preserved their Catholic identity for many centuries and generations, a sacrifice that Paula is incredibly grateful for. It is her appreciation for the Sacraments, especially the sacrament of Holy Matrimony and the honor in raising 3 wonderful children, that really gets Paula excited about sharing her story. First, for her family, through the Sacraments of the Church, and teaching the faith to her children. And second, for the Lighthouse Women’s Center in Denver Colorado, where indeed Paula and her co-workers have become that ‘light on a hill’ for the neighborhood of Park Hill and beyond. Having been founded just last year in October of 2012, the Lighthouse Women’s Center is providing exceptional care, both body and soul, for the women (and men) of Denver who are facing challenges that they may think are unsurmountable.
Pregnancy, and unexpected pregnancies, can be a time of uncertainty no doubt for women, and even men. But as Paula Suhr says, ‘it is also a time of great hope and excitement for a new life!’ She goes on, ‘and the fact that women everyday come through the doors of the Lighthouse Women’s Center for help is proof from God that He does in fact love these women, and has an incredible plan for their journey with their precious baby.’ Whether it is a pregnancy test, counseling, or an ultra sound, every service offered at Lighthouse Women’s Center is free and 100% confidential.
The unexpected twist in this story rests in the location of the Lighthouse Women’s Center, which is across the street from a Planned Parenthood (the largest abortion provider in America). God knows the pain that promulgates from behind those walls, and into the hearts of the women that leave them. Yet just a stones throw away, Paula and others are rebuilding the hearts of countless women, and their babies, through true love, and devout prayer before the Holy Eucharist in St. Gianna Molla’s chapel just upstairs in the Center. At this time, the team at OBS would like to invite you to share Paula’s story with your family and friends who may be in a position to help Lighthouse Women’s Center, and especially to forward her story along to any woman who may need help as they begin their journey of bringing new life in to this world.

Very important messages…how many of us have made a point of thanking our parents, parent, grand parents, or care providers for the gift of our Catholic faith direction? Great interview and especially during this week when 40 years ago abortion became a legalized business in our United States…prayers and more prayers for a change of heart and direction.
