Overcoming the ‘Troubles’ with Divine Mercy

The tag line of this Catholic story could have been ‘a rebel without a cause.’ This young Irishman was a loose cannon during his youth on the emerald isle, but it once again was the faithfulness of family that brought him through those years of rebellion.
Today’s Story
If you’re wondering what action the family took to remain faithful, let’s just say it involved the beads on the rosary! Whether it be the rosary or divine mercy chaplet, this man’s family was not going to give up on their son of God. What a beautiful testament to trusting in Mary’s intercession for overcoming darkness. Even if that darkness means facing trial in the face of the law, which he shares with you today. You know that this man overcame the darkness, simply by looking at his prayer room, which he has set up inside of his home. Might we all look to his story and home as an example of how to live out the Gospel message through the wisdom of the Catholic faith. How has the rosary impacted your Catholic faith?
‘Irish Steve’ is back on the emerald isle working for the mission! We will be seeing updates soon from his pilgrimage of faith through Europe. We may even have a surprise to share in the next couple of weeks that you will not want to miss. Comment section below if you care to share thoughts on today’s story. The Power of the Eucharist

A family gets upset at the Church, and fell away from the faith while this young man was a child. Despite these hurdles, this young man overcomes the odds against him. God does not call the equipped, He equips the called.
Today’s Story
In fact, during those tumultuous years of seeking God without much support from the family, it was a brother who told this young man, ‘be sure to take your confirmation retreat seriously.’ Even though this man was a Protestant at the time, he knew that God’s grace would be present at the retreat, and present it was! What has been your experience at adoration? Has your heart been reignited to new vistas of hope during that time on your knees before Jesus? Share your experience below this video. How cool woud it be if there was an app for adoration chapels all across the country?

Down to Earth with Curt Arens, part II

Filed under Archive, Books to Read, Families, Testimonies
How has the late and Great John Paul II impacted your personal story? Our team knows for a fact that we could dedicate an entire website just to people who have been changed for the better because of the life of Karol Wojtyla. Curt Arens story from Crofton, Nebraska, is one of those stories, he talks about the impact right at the beginning before diving into life as a Catholic farmer.
Today’s Story
What an incredible witness to hope and faith from Mr. Arens, a Catholic man who sheds light on trusting in God’s plan; even when losing your best crop in years to a 5-minute hail storm. Very quickly one may be humbled as a farmer. Working the land has made a profound impact on this man and his family. Even as a kid, Curt’s father would lead his family through a rosary on the front porch of their farm house for protection of their crops. Faith very quickly becomes a part of one’s life, in fact it is your life as a farmer in Curt’s opinion.
In this second part to Curt’s story, we also dive into the Seven Sacraments, and more specifically the Eucharist. Sister Veronica instilled in Curt as a boy an appreciation to how farmers can have a special connection to the Eucharist; since it is farmers who till the land that creates the wheat which is the host for Jesus’ own flesh at the moment of consecration.
We, the ‘Mystical Body’ on the ‘digital continent’, are not done with Curt Arens story. He will be back next week with the finale to his story as he discusses the book he wrote, ‘Down to Earth.’ You can learn more about Curt, his faith, family, and book, by clicking on the logo just above. Consider supporting this incredible man of faith by purchasing his book for your family or a friend. Thanks for your patience today in the publishing of today’s story, new story every day!

Today’s Story
What would be interesting for the other hundreds of Catholics who will watch today’s story is to lay out your daily schedule from morning to night, especially if you’re a family. How does your day start? What do you do in the middle of the day? And is there a routine at the end of the day when it is time to rest in God’s presence? These questions, especially for young Catholic families, are critical for the spiritual and physical health of a family unit. This young Irish family has a tradition of praying together as one, for the intercession of Mary, through the ancient Catholic prayer known as the Rosary. Our team believes that body language can go a long way for understanding one’s current emotional state. Most certainly, this family’s body language is one of joy, purpose, charity, and excitement to be Catholic!

Atheism, the Radical Left, and Pursuing Truth, part II

Beauty pierces the heart of an atheist in today’s Catholic story from Colorado. The denial of God may arise in some hearts, until one day they encounter the resonation of truth through beauty. Find out where Aaron encountered this beautiful place by watching his story.
Today’s Story
Dostoyevsky once let drop the enigmatic phrase: “Beauty will save the world.” What does this mean? We think Aaron answers this question wonderfully. One’s conversion to truth is mystical as well according to his testimony. Before receiving the graces of confession, a convert’s soul is dead. Therefore, it can be difficult to nail down one’s story into words. Despite these hurdles, one keeps moving forward to share what they have found because they have encountered something never before experienced in their life. By pushing play, you will see that Aaron kept pursuing truth right into the One, Holy, Catholic, and Apostolic Church, and he brought home his wife in the process.

The interior life of the human soul can come forth if given a chance. Aaron was given a chance, despite being an ardent Atheist for many years of his life. Perhaps you know an atheist who needs a chance. After hearing today’s story, it seems that patience, humility, the truth, and beauty, all were ingredients in his conversion to Catholicism. Be sure to check out Part I to Aaron’s story by clicking here.
Consider sending this video along to your atheist friends, the power of a testimony in a non-threatening environment can go a long way toward saving their soul.

Today’s Story
The power of confession comes out again in today’s story, a common theme from the global Catholic story pool. The man walked in to the confessional one man, and came out absolved as another man. This man’s life changed so much that the vibrancy of Ireland’s green countryside came out for the first time in many years. He had been living a life of gray for so long that he could not even soak up the beauty of his home country.
Many Catholics are afraid of confession, or do not see the importance of it in this world, but what is your take? Share your thoughts or experience of confession below this video.
Our team often wonders as we pass the people on the streets of our daily happenings, ‘why has that person not been touched by the love of Jesus Christ?’ For as this man in Ireland communicates today, ‘just one man with the power of the Holy Spirit can transform the world.’ And he is doing just that! Perhaps you are noticing a trend in these stories from Ireland, conviction! Those people who are living out the Catholic faith with conviction share incredible stories of devotion, passion, and excitement for not only being Catholic, but for sharing it with others. This man proves it. St Patrick & St Brigid, pray for us! As always, pray for ‘Irish Steve’ as he continues this amazing work, share your thoughts with him here: [email protected]

Down to Earth with Curt Arens, part I

As Catholics, we strive to understand virtue, and then live out those virtues daily, especially the Cardinal Virtues of Prudence, Justice, Temperance, and Fortitude. It is safe to say that the man you are about to listen to exemplifies the four Cardinal Virtues better than most people in this world, we credit his farming, his family, and his strong faith for that claim.
Today’s Story
In recording this story, we spent about two hours with Curt, who lives in Nebraska on his family’s fourth generation farm. During those two hours of recording, our eyes were lifted to a man who has given his life for the land, his family, and above all else, his Catholic faith. Virtue exudes from his being, all you have to do is stand by the man. Once you click play, and listen to his words, you will understand what a great Catholic man is like in 2011. And on that note, our team wanted to go out with a bang for 2011, we hope you have enjoyed the ‘one billion Catholic stories’ of 2011, only God knows who shall arrive for the mission in 2012.
Today’s story is part one of a three part series on Curt Arens, author of Down to Earth, a book about how farming the land and the Catholic faith share a divine connection. The family unit, what is the status of family life in the Catholic world in 2011, now, almost 2012? Do you have some personal experience with holding together a family unit, share your thoughts at the bottom of this page?
Today’s Story
After reflecting on today’s story, it is amazing that God, the creator of the universe, has a vocation for everyone on earth. Sometimes the vocation is religious life, sometimes it is marriage, but whatever the path is that God has made for you, the plan is in the palm of His hands. This story, from Enrico’s family in Colorado, sheds light on that reality of how to make a leap of faith to total trust in God’s plan at all times. Marriage may not arrive on one’s doorstep exactly when they want it to, or perhaps expect. Nevertheless, being open to God’s will always brings peace to our human desires, and eventually a bounty of love as shown today in the children’s faces.
Especially this day in age, so many women are looking for holy men to marry. This story teaches a lesson on how one must stop looking for marriage prospects, but rather trust in God’s own plan for their life. And after following God’s will, a beautiful family will come forth, to the point where they have the conviction and courage to go defend life together as a strong family unit outside of abortion mills.
If you have ideas for other families watching this video on how they can strengthen their family unit, our team encourages you to share your thoughts below. A Universal-Catholic Family (I)
December 25, 2011 by OneBillionStories.com
Filed under Archive, Families
Many Catholics do not know that they are members, brothers and sisters, in a universal family of over 1 billion people. What does that mean? One out of every seven people on this planet is Catholic! That number is staggering, and is the inspiration behind the name of this mission that you are now visiting, ‘one billion (Catholic) stories.com.
Today’s Story
Today’s story, from Enrico and his family in Colorado, displays very concretely the incredibly rich universality of the Catholic Faith. Three countries and two continents are the geographical root of this family, but they are all made one by the mystical body of Christ, which is the Catholic Church. Thanks to weekly participation in the Eucharist at Mass, all Catholics around the world have the opportunity to join each other as we foretaste the heavenly banquet. The geographic or language barriers that the natural world present to our Catholic family are all overcome by Christ’s proclamation in the upper room, ‘do this in remembrance of me.’ We confidently move forward toward 2012, knowing that the Eucharist is the ‘source and summit’ of our Catholic faith, no matter where one resides on this earth.
What a beautiful family you are about to become apart of by watching their story. Part II will air in three days on December 29th, and don’t forget about the comment section below where you can share your thoughts and opinions. Enrico, thanks for sharing your family’s story, Merry Christmas everyone from our team here in Denver, CO, USA! Also, visit the Pope’s YouTube Channel below, the spiritual father on earth of the ‘one billion Catholics!’ One last note, there are over 2 billion videos watched on YouTube everyday, let’s support our Holy Father in his daily mission to lead our Catholic Church through watching, and most importantly, sharing his videos with the ‘digital continent.’

To learn more about Curt and his other books, click on the logo just to the left. Lastly, perhaps you know some farmers with great Catholic stories. If so, our team would love to hear about them for a possible interview and chance at evangelization on the ‘digital continent.’ E-mail [email protected] to find out how to set up the interview.

Irish Steve is taking a break from the biking pilgrimage around Ireland. He has gone on retreat in order to rest, pray, and reflect on the pilgrimage to date. He has undertaken a huge project here, let us all unite our prayers for Steve during his retreat. He’ll be back!
Pope Benedict XVI’s YouTube channel is the focus of today’s connect section of this post. That is the goal, to connect to the Church beyond our normal sphere of influence. God’s blessings to you all on this fine Saturday.

Watch Part I, Atheism, the Radical Left, and Pursuing Truth, part II, click here.

Authentic Catholic Manhood, what does it look like in 2012? Men like St. Joseph, who were so strong and yet so gentle, are the quintessential life example of real Catholic manhood. Tim O’Sullivan, the man of today’s story, exudes many similar qualities to St. Joseph, click play to see for yourself.
